The Game Larder

Glamping at Lawnsgate and Wild Slack

We have a small selection of unique Glamping options at Lawnsgate and Wild Slack. If you’re interested in booking you can either go through the Airbnb links or get in touch with me through the contact form!

The Game Larder

This is a lovingly restored building based up at Lawnsgate next to the Landpod field. It is a small space with a bed upstairs as well as a fold out bed below for taller people! You can also admire the view down the Esk Valley in the wood fired two person hot tub! Two adults only.

Curlew View Yurt

A secluded off grid yurt complete with four person hot tub. The Yurt is perfect for those wanting to get away from everything for a few days and it’s a short walk from the farm. It has a little Woodburning stove, a gas fired fire pit and a bbq as well as compost toilet! Two adults only.

Crumbleclive Cabin

Situated in the magnificent Crunkly Ghyll, the cabin is a restored 1890s Gun room from the local estate. A quiet haven perfect for nature lovers to chill and listen to the birds and the river below whilst relaxing in the Swedish bath. Two adults only.

Yellowhammers Nest Gypsy Wagon

A cute little gypsy wagon located in the same quarry as the yurt. Perfect for couples wanting a romantic back to basics escape!

Lapwing and Little Owl Landpods

Our two Landpods are at Lawnsgate and perfect for families. They have two small double bed bunk beds as well as a kitchen shared between the two pods. We also allow well behaved dogs in the pods!

The Game Larder was bought for the local shooting estate around the turn of the 20th century by Sir Francis Ley.

Made of cedar wood and manufactured by the firm Boulton and Paul, the building spent most of the last century forgotten and unused in the woods until it was relocated a mile up the road and turned into something altogether different!

We set the Game Larder facing down the Esk Valley and directly across from Danby beacon. The views are fantastic and the sunsets can be truly spectacular. The decking outside provides the perfect viewing platform to enjoy the scenery.

Lawnsgate Farm is a traditional sheep and cattle hill farm and there is also a small campsite opposite.

We have Scottish blackface sheep and Galloway and shorthorn cows. We also have three bulls which are kept up in the shed during winter. The toilets and showers are in a converted building 20 metres away and are shared with the campsite. There are also washing up facilities, washer/dryer, and a freezer.

The Game Larder is completely separate from the house so you can come and go as you please. If you do need anything though me and wife Ella are always on hand to help.
